Andreas Pommert

Andreas Pommert serves as Head of the Voxel-Man working group at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) within the Faculty of Medicine. Holding a Dr. rer. nat. (Doctor rerum naturalium) and Dipl.-Inform. (Diplom-Informatiker), he specializes in advanced medical visualization technologies and computer-assisted surgical systems.

Dr. Pommert's research focuses on 3D anatomical modeling, virtual surgical planning, and medical image processing. His Voxel-Man project has produced significant contributions to medical visualization, creating tools used for surgical training, anatomical education, and preoperative planning. His work bridges computer science and clinical medicine, developing practical applications for surgical assistance systems.

He has maintained active leadership in the academic community through his service on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery (IJCARS) from 2006-2023 and as a member of the Program Committee for Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery (CARS) conferences. As a member of the Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI), he contributes to Germany's professional computing society.

Dr. Pommert's work has practical applications across multiple medical specialties, enhancing surgical precision through advanced visualization techniques. His research group develops tools that transform medical imaging data into interactive 3D models used for both educational and clinical purposes.
