معرفی
Andreas Pfennig is a Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Liège since 2014. Previously, he held professorships at the Institute for Chemical Process Engineering and Environmental Technology at Graz University of Technology (2011-2014) and led the Aachen Process Technology division at RWTH Aachen (1995-2011). His career spans over two decades in academia, with prior roles as a scientific researcher at TU Darmstadt, RWTH Aachen, and Ruhr University Bochum.
Education:
- Habilitation in Chemistry at TU Darmstadt (1995)
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen (1987)
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Process Engineering) at RWTH Aachen (1984)
Research Focus: His work combines experimental and modeling approaches in chemical engineering, particularly in phase separation technologies. Key areas include liquid-liquid extraction, distillation, mass transfer dynamics, and thermodynamic modeling of non-ideal mixtures. He also investigates exergy analysis for sustainable process design and coalescence separation systems.
Scientific Recognition:
- Friedrich-Wilhelm-Preis and Borchers-Preis (both 1988, RWTH Aachen)
- Recipient of the Dr. Otto Röhm Gedächtnisstiftung grant (2011)
Professional Roles: Throughout his career, Pfennig has balanced experimental research with theoretical modeling. His projects include interfacial transport phenomena, dispersion separation, and systematic process design methodologies.
