Andreas Papadopoulos is a Professor at the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA), affiliated with the Faculty of Plant Sciences and the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment Management. Based in Karpenisi, Greece, his work focuses on agroforestry systems, dendrochronology, and sustainable land management, particularly in Mediterranean ecosystems.
Research Interests: His research explores the resilience of tree species like Valonia oak (Quercus ithaburensis subsp. macrolepis) and Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis) to environmental stressors such as drought, salt stress, and wildfires. He investigates historical land use patterns, biomass estimation models, and ecosystem services provided by traditional silvopastoral systems.
Recent Publications highlight trends in agroforestry for wildfire risk reduction, tree-ring analysis for climate response, and sustainable management of Mediterranean oak systems. His work bridges ecological research with practical applications in land use planning and conservation.
Academic Roles: He teaches courses on Torrent Management and Control and Hydrology, contributing to both undergraduate and postgraduate curricula at AUA.
