Andreas Meyer is a Professor of Musicology at the Stuttgart State University of Music and Performing Arts, where he has served since 2007. He currently holds the roles of Vice Dean of Faculty I and Head of the Institute of Musicology, Music Education, and Aesthetics. As a private lecturer at Humboldt University from 2005 and a research associate at Berlin’s State Institute for Music Research (1998–2007), his career spans academia and institutional leadership.

Research Interests focus on music from the 19th to 21st centuries, including classical modernism, contemporary aesthetics, and the interplay between music and poetry. His methodological approach integrates source-based research, musical analysis, and cultural theory, with a particular emphasis on expanding historical musicology to include popular music. He has organized symposia on topics such as microtonality (2011) and contemporary music theater (2014).
Publications and Projects include co-editing the correspondence between Arnold Schönberg and Alban Berg (2007) and editing the Stuttgarter Musikwissenschaftlichen Schriften series since 2011. His current work involves synchronized music history editing (1913), 20th-century musical interpretation, and a handbook on Arnold Schönberg (2023), marking the composer’s 150th anniversary.
