Andreas Kruck

Andreas Kruck is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich's Faculty of Social Sciences, specializing in Global Governance and Public Policy. His research explores the intersection of international institutions, private actors, and power dynamics in global political economy and security.

He earned a MA in Political Science, Public Law, and American Studies from the University of Tübingen (2008), a PhD from LMU Munich (2014), and the venia legendi in Political Science (2022). Previously, he served as Assistant Professor (2014-2022), Guest Professor at Free University Berlin (2016/17), and Co-Speaker of an LMU research group on power shifts (2018/19).

His research focuses on power rivalries, cooptation mechanisms, institutional change in international orders, contestation of global institutions, and the role of private actors in governance. Recent publications analyze the regulatory security state in Europe, US contestation of trade orders, and cooptation dynamics in great power relations, reflecting a blend of qualitative foresight methods and empirical studies.

He collaborates with Moritz Weiss on projects funded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation ("The Making of National Security") and the German Foundation for Peace Research ("Paths Projections of Conflict (De-)Escalation").
