Andreas Jørgensen

Andreas Jørgensen is a Postdoc at the Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics, University of Southern Denmark. His research focuses on the intersection of physical activity, quality of life, and public health, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and individuals with severe disabilities.

His primary research interests include Quality of Life, Physical Activity, Public Health, Severe Disability, Cerebral Palsy, and Volunteerism. He investigates how structured physical activity programs, such as Team Twin (a running program for individuals with disabilities) and Cycling Without Age (a cycling program for elderly nursing home residents), impact participants' well-being and social inclusion. His work often employs mixed-methods approaches to evaluate both physical and psychological outcomes.

Recent publications (2024-2025) demonstrate a strong focus on evaluating community-based interventions for elderly and disabled populations in Denmark. Key themes include the use of heart rate monitors for activity measurement in severe disability, the organizational readiness for school-based health interventions, and the mood and life satisfaction benefits of volunteer-led physical activities.

Dr. Jørgensen has supervised one Master's student and has been actively involved in teaching courses related to intervention development and evaluation. He has participated in significant research projects funded by the Danish health sector, including "Når Bevægelse Bevæger" (When Movement Moves), which assessed the impact of Team Twin and Cycling Without Age programs.

He is a key member of research teams working with community organizations such as Team Twin and Cycling Without Age, which partner with municipalities and civil society to deliver health-promoting activities for vulnerable groups.
