Andreas Joergensen

Andreas Joergensen is a Teaching Professor at the Department of Mathematics within the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Imperial College London. He holds the Eric and Wendy Schmidt Fellowship and leads AI-focused teaching for the I-X AI in Science Centre. His research integrates mathematical models and Bayesian inference across disciplines, including oncology, computational biology, and astrophysics.

Background: Trained as an astrophysicist, Joergensen completed his PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics, studying stellar atmospheres via magneto-hydrodynamic simulations. His postdoctoral work at the University of Birmingham expanded into red giant star evolution. In 2021, he transitioned to oncology research at Imperial, focusing on glioblastoma modeling. He now bridges interdisciplinary science through Imperial-X's AI initiatives.

Research Interests: Joergensen develops models for glioblastoma multiforme, genetic networks in yeast/nematodes, and environmental systems. His work emphasizes collaboration with experimental scientists to ensure model applicability. Current affiliations include the Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Physics group and the Artificial Intelligence Network at Imperial.
