معرفی
Andreas Höflich is a Lecturer at the University of Rostock and serves as Head of the Endocrinology of Farm Animals working group at the Research Institute for Farm Animal Biology (FBN). His research focuses on growth and metabolism, functional genome analysis, and biomarker research in farm animals. He holds a habilitation in natural sciences (2009) and veterinary medicine (2002), with a PhD from Technical University of Munich (1995). He has led the Mouse Genetics group at FBN (2006–2012) and directed the Cell Signaling Unit at FBN since 2013.
His key research interests include hormonal regulation of growth, metabolic pathways in farm animals, and applications of biomarkers. Notable work includes studies on insulin-like growth factor binding proteins (IGFBPs), metabolic flexibility in marathon mice, and hormonal signaling in dairy cow lactation. He collaborates widely, co-authoring over 150 publications since 1995, with a focus on physiological and molecular mechanisms in farm animal systems.
Recent studies highlight contributions to understanding IGF system dynamics, metabolic adaptations in endurance-selected mice, and biomarker development for reproductive and metabolic health in livestock. His work bridges basic endocrinology with applied agricultural science, emphasizing translational outcomes for animal production and health.
