Andreas Bühler serves as an Associate Member of the Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio 212 (SFB/TRR 212) "A Novel Synthesis of Individualization across Behavior, Ecology and Evolution: Niche Choice, Niche Conformance, Niche Construction" (NC³) at the University of Bielefeld.
His research focuses on niche construction theory within evolutionary biology and ecology, examining how organisms actively modify their environments to influence evolutionary trajectories. This interdisciplinary work integrates behavioral science perspectives to analyze individualization processes in changing ecosystems, contributing to the university's strategic research area of the Changing World which investigates societal and biological adaptation under uncertainty.
As part of the NC³ network, he collaborates across multiple faculties including Biology and Sociology to advance understanding of how niche-related behaviors shape ecological and evolutionary dynamics in complex environments.
