معرفی
Andrea Trotta is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Biosciences and BioResources (IBBR) of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), based in Sesto Fiorentino, Florence. He has held this position since January 2023, following previous roles as a Researcher at the same institution from November 2019 to December 2022. Dr. Trotta maintains significant international collaborations, particularly with the University of Turku in Finland, where he has served as a Visiting Researcher since April 2021.
Dr. Trotta earned his PhD in Environmental Sciences from the Department of Environmental and Life Sciences (DiSAV) at the University of Eastern Piedmont in Alessandria, Italy, between November 2006 and February 2010. His doctoral research laid the foundation for his subsequent work in plant molecular biology and photosynthesis.
His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying light perception and energy conversion in biomolecules across both model and non-model land plant species. Specifically, he investigates the regulation of expression and post-translational modification of the proteome in photosynthetic membranes and whole plant cells. His work spans plant molecular biology, photosynthesis, and chloroplast function, with particular emphasis on protein phosphorylation dynamics and thylakoid membrane organization.
Analysis of Dr. Trotta's recent publications reveals a strong research trajectory focused on thylakoid membrane structure and function across diverse plant species. His work examines protein phosphorylation dynamics in response to environmental stimuli, photosynthetic adaptation mechanisms in conifers during winter conditions, and the evolutionary aspects of photosynthetic regulation from mosses to vascular plants. His research bridges fundamental molecular mechanisms with ecological adaptations.
Dr. Trotta has been involved in multiple research projects funded by prestigious organizations including the Academy of Finland and the Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation. His collaborations with Prof. Eva-Mari Aro at the University of Turku have been particularly significant, focusing on photosynthetic mechanisms and molecular biology of primary producers.
He maintains active research collaborations across international institutions, particularly with the University of Turku in Finland, where he has served as a Visiting Researcher since April 2021 and previously held Senior Research Fellow and Senior Researcher positions. His work has been supported by multiple Academy of Finland projects investigating photosynthetic mechanisms, regulation, and signaling.
