Andrea Trivella

Andrea Trivella is a Full Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (DIMEAS) of the Polytechnic University of Turin, and a member of the Interdepartmental Center IAM@PoliTo - Integrated Additive Manufacturing. He has held teaching roles in the Mechanical Engineering doctoral program since the 2013/2014 academic year, including courses on Multiphysics Modeling of Lubricated Systems, Elements of Tribology, and Mechanics of Automatic Machines.

• Research Focus: Gas bearings, Tribology, and Mechanics applied to machines.
• Research Lines: Numerical models of gas bearings, gas bearing power systems, high-stiffness gas bearing adjustment systems, and friction reduction in pneumatic cylinders.

His work emphasizes applications in Industrial Design and Sustainable Design, aligning with the UN SDG Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). Recent publications analyze porous graphite for air bearings, adhesion forces in pneumatic systems, and stability in air pads, reflecting a strong focus on tribological systems and sustainable engineering solutions.

• Patents: Co-inventor of the national patent Pneumostatic Skid with Integrated Compensation.
