Andrea Thome

Andrea Thome is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Theatre and Performance at Purchase College, State University of New York, within the Conservatory of Theatre Arts. She is a Chilean/Costa Rican-American playwright whose work spans multiple languages and cultural landscapes, focusing on collaboration, identity, and social dialogue.

Her educational background includes a BA from Harvard University and an MFA from New York University.

Andrea's research and creative practice centers on innovative forms of theatrical storytelling. Her interests include contemporary U.S. Latinx theatre, satire as a tool for social critique, playwriting methodologies, Mexican theatre in translation, and the performance of oral history and poetry. Her work often emerges from deep community engagement, particularly with undocumented immigrants and binational artist networks.
