Andrea Swartz is a Professor of Architecture and Associate Dean of the R. Wayne Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning at Ball State University. She has taught a wide range of courses, including architectural design studios, photography, furniture making, and introductory structures courses for architecture students.

Research Interests
Swartz's work focuses on architectural design, sustainability, and the intersection of materiality and craft. Her teaching emphasizes clarity of vision, depth of learning, and engagement with human use, materiality, and craftsmanship. She actively leads the Muncie Makes lab, which focuses on renovating historic buildings and connecting the university with the Muncie community.

Professional Experience
A registered architect in Indiana and Rhode Island, Swartz has worked in firms across six states: Pennsylvania, Connecticut, California, Washington, Maine, and Rhode Island. Her current projects include a design entry for Waterfront Convertibles on the Kentucky Riverfront and the revitalization of the Muncie Urban Design Studio through the Muncie Makes initiative.
