Prof. Dr. Andrea Sangiorgio is a Professor of Elementary Music Education at the University of Music and Theatre Munich since 2015. He holds leadership roles as Dean of Studies (since 2017) and Head of the Institute IV for artistic-pedagogical studies (since 2019). His academic journey includes a PhD from the University of Exeter (2016) on collaborative creativity in music education, an MSc in Educational Research (2011), and a Master’s in Ethnomusicology from the University of Rome (2006). He co-directed the CDM Centro Didattico Musicale in Rome (1997–2022), teaching piano, percussion, and leading teacher training programs.
His research focuses on group creativity, Orff-Schulwerk methodologies, and cognitive aspects of music learning. He organizes international conferences like 'Creative Interactions' (2019, 2022) and chairs the International Orff-Schulwerk Forum Salzburg (2014–2024), serving as Vice-President (2018–2023). His work spans teacher education across 20+ countries, emphasizing elemental music and movement education, ensemble music, and improvisation.
Publications include edited volumes on creative pedagogy (e.g., *Creative Interactions*, 2023) and articles on collaborative learning, special populations, and cross-disciplinary approaches. He supervises doctoral students and contributes to educational policy through academic committees and institutional leadership.
