Andrea Polegato is an Associate Professor in Italian Studies at California State University, Fresno, affiliated with the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures under the College of Arts and Humanities. His expertise spans Machiavelli’s political language, comparative studies between Renaissance Italy and ancient China, and Italian food culture. He also serves as a QLT facilitator for the CSU system, promoting quality online and hybrid teaching methodologies.

Dr. Polegato’s research focuses on Machiavelli’s administrative letters, the intersection of military theory in Renaissance Florence and ancient China, and the political philosophy of thinkers like Sunzi and Han Feizi. His work extends to cultural comparisons in media, such as analyzing Ermanno Olmi’s films, and he co-edited the volume Machiavelli in Contemporary Media (Palgrave Macmillan, 2021).
His publications emphasize comparative analysis, with recent articles exploring Machiavelli’s The Prince, the metaphor of the body in political discourse, and parallels between Italian and Chinese strategic thought. Dr. Polegato also contributes to educational resources, including textbook chapters on Emily Dickinson and Italian authors, and collaborates with the Italian Journal NAM: Nuova Antologia Militare.
