Andrea Mariko Grant is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Victoria, specializing in social anthropology with a focus on art, memory, and Japanese Canadian history. As an Affiliated Researcher for the Past Wrongs, Future Choices project, she studies Japanese Canadian art, including her grandmother's tanka poetry. She leads a SSHRC-funded international study on Nikkei art across Canada, the US, Brazil, and Australia.
Grant employs community-engaged curation to develop public history and art projects that illuminate Japanese Canadian experiences. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges anthropology, history, and visual culture to explore identity and reckoning with historical injustice.
