Andrea Maria Pelliconi is a Lecturer in Human Rights Law at the University of Southampton and a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (FHEA). She is co-convenor of the ICON-S Interest Group on Migration and Climate Change and Head of the Programmes Committee at the Young International Criminal Lawyers Association (AYICL).

- Advanced Master in International Protection of Human Rights (Sapienza University, Rome)
- Combined Law Degree (Bocconi University, Milan)
Her research focuses on demographic engineering under international law, intersecting public demography, forced displacement, and genocide. She also explores climate-related involuntary mobility. Key themes in her recent articles include:
- Self-determination in Russia’s annexation of Crimea
- Demographic manipulation in Palestine and Western Sahara
- Climate change and legal frameworks for displaced populations
- Human rights implications of EU external actions and asylum policies
Scientific awards:
- 2024 Georg Schwarzenberger Prize in International Law
- Shortlisted for 2024 E-International Relations Article Award (non-finalist status excluded from awards list)
Andrea supervises PhD research and collaborates with interdisciplinary networks, including the Max Planck Institute (Luxembourg) and European Society of International Law. She previously held teaching roles at the University of Nottingham and LSE, with non-practicing legal qualifications from Rome’s Bar.
