معرفی
Andrea Fogato is a doctoral student at the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior, Department of Migration, Radolfzell, Germany. Her research focuses on animal behavioral responses to anthropogenic factors, particularly the energetic costs and benefits of hibernation in common noctule bats (Nyctalus noctula) across climate gradients. Andrea uses ICARUS bio-loggers, passive acoustic monitoring, video recordings, and fecal sampling to investigate how climate change drives range shifts and affects bat winter activity patterns.
Research Interests: Andrea's work intersects climate change, animal behavior, and migration ecology. She studies how rising winter temperatures influence N. noctula's novel hibernation range expansion into northern and eastern regions, aiming to determine if behavioral flexibility leads to energetic advantages.
Education:
- PhD student at Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior since 2024
- MSc Environmental Biology, Behavioural Ecology track (Utrecht University, The Netherlands, 2022)
- BSc Biology (University of Padua, Italy, 2019)
Additional Experience: Andrea works as a nature guide and didactical operator at institutions like the Natural History Museum of Verona and Botanical Garden of Padua during summer periods.
