Andrea Elmelid

Andrea Elmelid serves as an Assistant Professor at the Center for Clinical Research Dalarna, a collaborative unit between Uppsala University and Region Dalarna in Sweden. Her primary academic affiliation is with Uppsala University, where she conducts clinical research focused on dermatological immunology and inflammatory skin conditions.

Her research program centers on the molecular mechanisms of phototherapy in inflammatory skin diseases, particularly psoriasis, with emphasis on vitamin D-related pathways and systemic inflammation biomarkers. Dr. Elmelid investigates how phototherapy modulates serum vitamin D-binding protein and hsCRP levels, and examines vitamin D receptor expression in immune cells of psoriasis patients. This work bridges clinical dermatology and molecular immunology to identify novel therapeutic targets for autoimmune skin disorders.

At the Center for Clinical Research Dalarna in Falun, Dr. Elmelid collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and laboratory scientists to advance translational research in skin disease pathophysiology. Her current projects analyze immunological biomarkers to improve understanding of phototherapy efficacy and develop evidence-based interventions for inflammatory skin conditions.
