Andrea Cote-Botero is an Associate Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Texas at El Paso's College of Liberal Arts. An internationally recognized poet and literary scholar, her work explores themes of cultural identity, artistic expression, and cross-cultural dialogue through poetry collections and biographical studies.
Research focuses on:
- Contemporary Latin American poetry and its translations
- Biographical studies of significant cultural figures
- Cross-cultural literary expressions
- Multilingual creative writing processes
Publications include award-winning poetry collections translated into numerous languages including English, French, Italian, Arabic, and Macedonian. Scholarly work examines the intersections of personal and cultural identity in literary expression.
Significant honors include the National Prize of Poetry from Universidad Externado de Colombia, Puentes de Struga International Poetry Prize, and being a finalist for both the Casa de América International Poetry Prize and City of Camaiore Poetry Prize. Recent translation grants support wider dissemination of Latin American literary works.
