Andrea Bonoldi is a Full Professor in the Department of Economics and Management at the University of Trento, specializing in Economic History. He has been affiliated with the University since 1995, progressing from researcher to associate professor (2014) and full professor. His research focuses on Alpine economic development, institutional dynamics, and historical trade networks, with a particular emphasis on the southern Tyrol and Trentino regions.
Education includes a Laurea in Political Economy (1992) and a Ph.D. in Economic and Social History from Bocconi University (1998). He has held visiting roles at institutions like the University of Leipzig and the University of Bologna. His work includes projects on energy policy, cooperative movements, and the economic impact of historical events such as the Napoleonic era and post-WWII reconstruction.
He is a member of numerous academic societies, including the Italian Society of Economic Historians (SISE) and the International Association for Alpine History. His research has been supported by grants from regional and international bodies, including the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano and the Swiss National Science Foundation.
Bonoldi has coordinated major initiatives like the international StoAlp project, documenting Alpine economic history, and contributed to publications such as the 'Storia del Trentino' series.
