Andrea Bolamperti is a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics in Garching, Germany. His work focuses on galaxy evolution at high redshifts (z ≈ 3.4) using strong gravitational lensing as a magnification tool. He has conducted groundbreaking studies on Lyman-alpha polarization, UV-continuum slopes, and cosmological parameter constraints through multi-source lensing systems.
- Key research areas: galaxy-scale strong lensing, Lyα emission physics, stellar populations in high-z clumps
- Notable works: SDSS J0100+1818 cosmography, D2 clump analysis, Lyα polarization modeling
His research combines observational data from VLT/FORS2, XShooter, MUSE, and HST with advanced radiative transfer simulations. Recent work on Lyα polarization provides novel constraints on gas geometry and emission mechanisms in distant galaxies.
Scientific contributions include:
- First deep Lyα spectropolarimetric observations of high-z galaxies
- Development of biconical outflow models for Lyα radiative transfer
- UV-continuum slope measurements down to tens of parsec scales
- Ωm and w parameter constraints from galaxy-scale lensing
