Andrea Bilkey

Andrea Bilkey is a Professor and Associate Dean for Students & Academic Programming at Texas Tech University's J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts. She joined the Department of Theatre & Dance in 2002 and transitioned to college administration in 2019, focusing on student success, curriculum development, academic programming, and facility planning for the college.

• MFA in Lighting Design from University of Wisconsin, Madison
• BS in Theatre from Mankato State University

Her expertise spans stage design, lighting design, scenic design, and sound design, with a strong emphasis on integrating theatre technology into both performance and educational contexts. She has significantly contributed to performance photography and design communication processes, particularly through publications in World Stage Design and the Theatre Design & Technology journal.

Her work has been recognized with multiple honors including the 2024 Integrated Scholar at Texas Tech University, ETC's LDI student sponsorship, and regional awards from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. She actively contributes to professional organizations, notably serving as a fellow of the Texas Academic Leadership Academy and former General Editor for TD&T.

Bilkey's creative practice includes lighting, scenic, and sound design for productions such as Sweet Charity, Spring Awakening, and The Grapes of Wrath. She also develops innovative educational materials, including course syllabi for advanced lighting design and technology-focused theatre courses, while maintaining a leadership role in facility planning and academic programming across the college.
