Prof. Dr. Andre Prevot is a Professor and Head of the Gasphase Chemistry group at the Laboratory of Atmospheric Chemistry, Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), Switzerland. He holds a Diploma in Physics (1990) and a Ph.D. in Natural Sciences (1994) from ETH Zürich. His career includes research roles at ETH Zürich, the National Center for Atmospheric Research (USA), and PSI, where he became group leader in 2000.
His research focuses on atmospheric chemistry, aerosol science, and air quality modeling. Key interests include organic aerosol formation, source apportionment, biomass burning impacts, and chemical transport modeling. He has led major EU projects (e.g., EUROTRAC II, ARTEMIS) examining transboundary pollution.
Prevot's recent work analyzes aerosol composition during extreme pollution events (e.g., Delhi, Beijing), COVID-19 lockdown impacts on air quality, and innovative methods for real-time aerosol characterization. His publications emphasize interdisciplinary approaches combining field measurements, chamber experiments, and advanced modeling.
Awards & Honors:
- Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researcher (2014–2020)
- PSI Award for Science Communication (2006)
He contributes to scientific committees like the SCNAT Commission on Atmospheric Chemistry and co-edits Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics.
