Andras Balogh is a Professor in the School of Mathematical & Statistical Sciences at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). He previously served as Department Chair (2012-2015) and Professor at the University of Texas-Pan American (now UTRGV). His academic journey includes roles as an Associate Professor (2005-2011) and Assistant Professor (2002-2005) at UTPA, and early career positions at institutions like the University of California San Diego and Idaho State University.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Mathematics, Texas Tech University, 1997
- M.S. in Applied Mathematics, University of Texas at Dallas, 1994
- B.S. in Mathematics, Jozsef Attila University (Hungary), 1989
Research Interests focus on boundary control of nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs), particularly in fluid dynamics and fluid flow stabilization. Key areas include:
- Boundary feedback stabilization of complex systems
- Analysis of nonlinear PDEs (e.g., Burgers', Korteweg-de Vries equations)
- Numerical simulation of control strategies for fluid flows
Publications span topics like wave equation stabilization, fluid flow control, and eigenvalue analysis, with contributions to journals such as Automatica, SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, and IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology.
Professional Service includes roles as Associate Editor for the International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control and membership in the IEEE Control Systems Society.
