Dr. Andia Augustin-Billy is an Associate Professor of French and Francophone Studies at Centenary College of Louisiana, where she has held the William C. Arceneaux Chair in French Studies since 2015. She earned her Ph.D. in French Language and Literatures from Washington University in St. Louis (2015), with a dissertation focusing on same-sex relations in Francophone Caribbean literature. Her research emphasizes gender, sexuality, and migration in French and postcolonial contexts, particularly in African and Caribbean literatures.
She teaches courses spanning French language, Francophone literature, and Gender Studies. Notable courses include Introduction to Haitian Literature, Gender and Sexuality Studies in the Francophone World, and Centenary in Paris: Paris Noir. Her work often intersects with Haitian studies and postcolonial theory, reflecting her engagement with diasporic identity and cultural hybridity.
Dr. Augustin-Billy has received prestigious awards such as the Mellon Emerging Faculty Leaders Award (2019) and the Harry Blake Education Award (2018).
