Anders V. Munch is a Professor of Design Culture at the Department of Design, Media and Educational Sciences, University of Southern Denmark (SDU). His academic work spans design history, theory, and philosophy, with additional expertise in architectural and art history. He has held visiting and adjunct roles, including a 20% visiting professorship at the Oslo School of Architecture (2010–2013), and has served in key leadership roles such as Chairman of the Danish Research Council for Culture and Communication (2020).

- Dr.phil, Ph.D., cand.mag. in History of Ideas and History of Art
- PhD fellowship at Aarhus University (1996–1999) on Adolf Loos and modern art
His research interests focus on design history and theory, particularly Scandinavian and Danish design, ornamentation and minimalism, total design, and branding. His doctoral thesis, From Bayreuth to Bauhaus, explored the Gesamtkunstwerk and its influence on modern art forms. Current themes include new Danish design history and the cultural branding of design.

Anders V. Munch has supervised over 50 master's theses and more than 30 project-based courses. His PhD supervision includes candidates from SDU, Trapholt, and Frederiksborg Museum. He has also led educational initiatives, including the development of new design studies programs at SDU. His research is supported by grants such as the Carlsberg Foundation Monography Fellowship for The History of Danish Design Culture (2024–2025).
He is actively involved in academic networks, having organized the Nordic Forum for Design History (2018) and the Design Culture: Object, Discipline and Practice conference (2014). He serves on editorial and assessment committees and contributes regularly as a peer reviewer and guest lecturer.
