Anders Thorell is a Professor of Surgery at the Department of Clinical Sciences, Danderyd Hospital, Karolinska Institutet. He holds a dual role as a Senior Physician. His academic journey includes an MD (1991) and PhD (1993) from Karolinska Institutet, followed by a 1998–1999 visiting postdoc at Harvard University's Joslin Diabetes Center. He became a specialist in surgery in 1995 and was appointed docent at Karolinska Institutet in 1999. From 1999 to 2021, he served in various roles, including adjunct professor, before his current professorship.
