Anders Høst-Madsen

Anders Høst-Madsen is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, where he has served since 2001 (promoted to full Professor in 2009). Previously, he held academic positions at the University of Calgary (1998-2000) and Kwangju Institute of Science and Technology (1996-1998), and worked at Dantec Dynamics (1993-1996). He is an IEEE Fellow and has held significant editorial roles for IEEE Transactions.

His educational background includes:

• M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (1990)
• Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Technical University of Denmark (1993)

Professor Høst-Madsen's research focuses on statistical signal processing and information theory with applications spanning wireless communications systems. His work addresses ad-hoc networks, cooperative diversity techniques, wireless sensor networks, non-contact heart monitoring solutions, underwater acoustics signal processing, and big data analytics. He has made substantial contributions to bridging theoretical foundations with practical implementations in communication systems and biomedical sensing.

His notable scientific recognition includes:

• IEEE Fellow designation (2013)
• Eurasip Journal of Wireless Communications and Networks Best Paper Award (2006)

He has served as Editor for Multiuser Communications for IEEE Transactions on Communications and Associate Editor for Detection and Estimation for IEEE Transactions on Information Theory. As an academic leader, he co-chaired major conferences including ISITA 2012 and IEEE ISIT 2014. Professor Høst-Madsen is also a founder and former CTO of Kai Sensors, Inc., which develops commercial non-contact heart monitoring equipment based on his research.
