Her research focuses on Caribbean studies with emphasis on Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic, exploring intersections of film, literature, visual culture, queer theory, and digital humanities. She has presented at institutions including Universidad La Salle (Bogotá), Georgia Tech, and University of Puerto Rico (Carolina).
Key publication trends reveal strong engagement with revolutionary Cuban cinema, queer Puerto Rican documentaries, and digital control mechanisms in Cuba. Her work contextualizes media within broader sociopolitical frameworks.
At Spelman, she teaches courses ranging from foundational language instruction (SPA 101-102) to advanced topics including queer theory (SPA 478) and film analysis (SPA 350). She actively integrates field research from Caribbean travel into classroom experiences.
