Anastasia Lopez

Anastasia Lopez is a Professional Development Faculty Instructor and Director of MQE Career Development & Recruitment in the Department of Economics at the University of Pittsburgh since July 2022. She also serves as Economics Development Coordinator, overseeing career development programs, recruitment, and professional workshops for MQE students. Her roles include teaching ECON 0900, advising economics students, and facilitating career services.

Educated at Western Michigan University (MA in Educational Leadership in Higher Education and Student Affairs) and Robert Morris University (BS in Hospitality and Tourism Management), Lopez has a multidisciplinary background. She studied abroad in Rome, Italy, and has worked internationally-focused career development roles.

Her research and professional interests center on career services innovation, workforce development for underrepresented groups, and international education. She publishes career-related articles on platforms like Wandering Educators and advocates for equitable employment practices.

Lopez holds certifications in career counseling, resume writing, and salary negotiation. She previously served as Director of Career Services at Community College of Allegheny County and worked at UPMC in workforce development. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Career Counselors’ Consortium.

Her professional development initiatives focus on supporting diverse populations including immigrants, refugees, veterans, and people with disabilities. She integrates her first-generation college graduate perspective and multicultural upbringing into her work.
