Ananya Tiwari is a Postdoctoral Researcher and Research Associate at the Environmental Policy Analysis (EPA) group under the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She holds a PhD from Atlantic Technological University (Ireland), an MSc from the University of Sussex, and a BA from the University of Mumbai. Her work focuses on nature-based solutions, stakeholder engagement, and participatory research methods, with a particular emphasis on climate policy and coastal resilience.
She is currently leading the 3-year Biodiversa+-funded SaltyBeats project, investigating saline nature-based solutions for agriculture adaptation to sea-level rise while conserving biodiversity. She has collaborated on EU projects like SCORE, SSH Centre, and ProCoast, addressing climate resilience, citizen science, and low-cost sensor technologies. Her international experience includes reforestation initiatives in Jamaica, India, and Colombia via organizations like ReWorld and Proyecto Titi.
Her research interests span climate justice, digital twins, behavioral transformation, and community empowerment. She has published extensively on topics including farmer attitudes toward GHG mitigation, challenges in sensor calibration, and climate resilience strategies in coastal regions. Her work often integrates interdisciplinary approaches and stakeholder collaboration to achieve sustainable outcomes.
