Professor Anant Paradkar is a Professor of Pharmaceutical Engineering at the University of Bradford's School of Pharmacy & Medical Sciences, and Director of the Centre for Pharmaceutical Engineering Science. He holds an Interdisciplinary Chair in Pharmaceutical Engineering Science and has over 20 years of academic experience, including roles in India and the UK. His research focuses on pharmaceutical process development, crystal engineering, nanoparticulate systems, and solid-state pharmaceutics, with a strong emphasis on green technologies like hot melt extrusion and sono-crystallisation.
Education: PhD in Pharmaceutics. Current research includes solvent-free continuous co-crystallization, amorphous systems, and liquid crystalline formulations for drug delivery. He collaborates internationally, notably with Sichuan University (China) and India's National Chemical Laboratory. Awards include the Yorkshire Enterprise Fellowship, UKIERI Fellowship, and Young Pharmacy Teacher Award.
Research Interests: Process optimization, formulation development for poorly soluble drugs, QbD, PAT, and nanoparticulate drug delivery systems for neurodegenerative diseases and cancers. His work bridges engineering and pharmacy, addressing challenges in scalability and commercialization.
Grants & Funding: EPSRC funding for co-crystallization projects, Yorkshire Enterprise Fellowship, and multiple Indian grants (UGC, DST, MoD). Current projects include propolis product development and curcumin systems for Alzheimer's treatment.
Advising: Supervised 10 PhD and 45 MPharm students, currently co-supervising 15 PhD candidates. Publications exceed 90 papers, with a focus on pharmaceutical engineering and formulation science.
Labs & Teams: Leads the Centre for Pharmaceutical Engineering Science, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration in pharmaceutical process innovation.
