Anand Singh

Anand Singh is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur). With a PhD from Vanderbilt University (2009) and an MSc from IIT Bombay (2004), he has established a vibrant research group focused on synthetic organic chemistry, enantioselective catalysis, and medicinal chemistry.

Research Interests:
His lab is broadly engaged in the development of new and efficient chemical transformations. Key focus areas include:

• Enantioselective Catalysis: Designing chiral catalysts for stereoselective synthesis.
• Fluorination Chemistry: Developing economical strategies for synthesizing fluorinated small molecules using fluoride anion, with applications in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals.
• Photoredox Catalysis: Utilizing visible light to drive novel organic reactions, including olefin functionalization and cyclization, for drug discovery and chemical biology.

Professional Experience:
After completing his PhD, Dr. Singh served as a Postdoctoral Associate at Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute (Lake Nona, Orlando, USA) from 2009 to 2012. He joined IIT Kanpur in 2013 as a faculty member and has since been leading cutting-edge research in synthetic organic chemistry.
