Anamaria Berbec-Chiritoiu is a Researcher at Uppsala University's Department of Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology, focusing on legal, moral, and political anthropology with a decade-long engagement with Roma communities in Eastern Europe. Her work examines social exclusion, kinship systems, and resilience strategies among marginalized groups.

Research Interests: Social imperceptibility, Roma kinship structures, vernacular law, and the interplay between legal regimes and marginalized populations. Current projects include the ERC-funded 'Out of Sight' project on social (im)perceptibility among Romanian Roma.
