Anahit Babayan

Dr. Anahit Babayan is a Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences (MPI CBS Leipzig), affiliated with the Neurology Department. She serves as a key coordinator for multiple high-profile research initiatives including the 'Mind-Body-Emotion' (LEMON cohort) and 'Somatosensory' groups. Her roles include Project Manager, Quality Manager, and Gender Equality Officer at MPI CBS Leipzig since 2012. She co-ordinates the 10th MindBrainBody Symposium and manages interdisciplinary collaborations between neuroimaging, physiology, and behavioral science.

Academically, she holds a PhD in Global Studies (University of Leipzig, 2013) and prior degrees in Economics (BA) and International Affairs (MA) from institutions in Lebanon. Her research focuses on the interplay between brain activity, emotional processing, and somatic health, utilizing advanced neuroimaging (fMRI, EEG) and physiological monitoring techniques. She pioneered the LEMON cohort, a comprehensive dataset linking cognitive-emotional states with cardio-cerebrovascular health markers.

Operational leadership includes managing international PhD programs (IMPRS NeurCom), implementing gender equality strategies across MPI CBS, and overseeing quality assurance protocols in neuroscientific research. Her work bridges global studies expertise with empirical neuroscience, emphasizing translational applications in health and emotion science.
