Ana Travizi is a Researcher at the Center for Marine Research of the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Rovinj, Croatia. Her work focuses on marine benthic ecology, invasive species dynamics, and sediment community analysis across coastal and transitional ecosystems in the Adriatic Sea. She has conducted extensive studies in seaports, estuaries, and industrial zones, evaluating ecological impacts of human activities and environmental stressors like eutrophication, anoxia, and aquaculture.
Her research spans macrobenthos and meiofauna communities, with specializations in non-indigenous species (e.g., Caulerpa taxifolia and invasive macrozoobenthos), port baseline surveys (PBS), and long-term environmental monitoring. Key projects include ecological assessments in Rijeka Bay, Limski kanal, and seaports like Raša and Omišalj. She has contributed to developing methodologies for tracking biodiversity changes and assessing anthropogenic impacts on coastal environments.
Travizi’s publications emphasize the Adriatic’s unique ecological challenges, including invasive species spread, effects of anoxic events, and the resilience of benthic communities. Her work integrates taxonomic surveys, spatial analysis, and experimental field studies to address both conservation and ecological management needs.
