معرفی
Ana Sokolova is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Salzburg, leading the Computational Systems Group. Her research spans theoretical computer science with emphasis on formal methods and concurrency theory, supported by extensive community leadership including PC roles for FoSSaCS'24 and CONCUR'22.
Her educational background includes a PhD from Eindhoven University of Technology (defended 2005) and undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje, North Macedonia.
Professor Sokolova's research focuses on coalgebra as a unifying framework for transition systems, behavioral semantics, and probabilistic-nondeterministic combinations. She pioneers work in probabilistic automata, convex algebras, concurrent data structures, and applied areas including memory management, real-time systems, and probabilistic anonymity security.
She has received the Elise Richter fellowship and serves on the FWF Board as Alternate Reporter for Computer Science (2020-2023). Her community impact includes organizing Dagstuhl Seminar 22492 and chairing MFPS'21.
Professor Sokolova has supervised eight PhD students to completion and served as Co-PI for the NFN RiSE (Shine) project (2015-2019). Her leadership includes Head of Department (2019-2021) and Deputy Head (2017-2019) at Salzburg.
She actively contributes to IFIP Working Groups 1.8 (Concurrency Theory, as Secretary) and 1.3 (Foundations of System Specification), and evaluates PhD awards through EAPLS and Beth Dissertation Prizes.
