Ana Martinez-Donate is a Professor and Associate Dean for Public Health Practice and External Relations at Drexel University's Dornsife School of Public Health. She holds a PhD in Psychology (Biological and Health Psychology) from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and has over two decades of academic experience, including roles at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research focuses on Latino immigrant health, syndemics (interconnected health issues like substance use, violence, HIV/AIDS, and mental health), and the impact of immigration policies on families. She leads the Migration, Ethnicity, Race and Health Working Group (MERHG) and founded the Latino Health Collective to address health inequities in Philadelphia. Funded by NIH since 2007, her work emphasizes community-based interventions and policy advocacy. Awards include the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (2010). She mentors numerous students and has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications.
Education: PhD in Psychology (1999), BA in Psychology (1995) from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Postdoctoral training in Epidemiology and Behavioral Health at San Diego State University and UW-Madison.
Research Interests: Immigrant health, syndemics, HIV prevention, health disparities, community engaged research.
