Dr Ana Castaño Arques is a Senior Lecturer in Spanish Language at the University of Oxford’s Modern Languages Faculty. She specializes in Spanish language education, with a focus on critical literacy, visual literacy, and assessment methodologies in language learning. Her research explores how learners engage with written and visual texts, particularly through peer feedback and intercultural pedagogy. She holds a PhD from Universitat Pompeu Fabra and has taught modules including First Year Grammar, Prose, and Advanced Writing Skills.
Dr Castaño Arques is a Fellow of Advance HE and an active member of ELE-UK, contributing to initiatives on decolonizing Spanish language teaching. She co-leads the Inter_Ecodal research group, investigating feedback literacy and learner autonomy. Her work has been presented at international conferences, including the ASELE Conference in Verona and the ELEUK Conference in Leeds.
