Amy Shumei Huang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Iowa. She specializes in Chinese art, focusing on paintings, prints, and collecting practices during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, with a particular interest in landscape art and gardens. Huang has previously taught at Boston University, Connecticut College, and Brown University.
- Education: PhD from Brown University; MA in art history from Boston University; MA in museum studies from University College London; BBA in Management Information Systems from National Cheng-chi University (Taipei).
Research Interests: Huang's work centers on the intersection of site-specificity, temporal representation, and visual memory in 17th-century Chinese landscape imagery. Her current book-length project examines Nanjing's landscape depictions as a lens for understanding historic memory and cultural identity.
Publications: She has contributed articles to journals such as the Journal of the American Oriental Society, Arts of Asia, and the National Palace Museum Bulletin, reflecting her transnational scholarly engagement.
