Amy Robinson is an Associate Teaching Professor and Associate Head for Undergraduate Education in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Penn State University's College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. She earned her B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Penn State and has taught undergraduate courses like MatSE 201, MatSE 259, and EMSC 100S since 2008. Her prior research focused on microstructure development in titanium and steel alloys, deformation mechanics, and processing-structure-property relationships in metals.
Robinson actively bridges academia and industry through field trips to manufacturing sites and collaborations with the metals sector. She serves as faculty adviser for the Women in Materials Science group and chairs the Penn State ASM chapter. Her administrative role involves overseeing undergraduate studies, emphasizing practical learning and industry engagement to prepare students for professional roles.
