Amy Ogan is an Associate Professor of Learning Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University's Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) within the School of Computer Science. Her research focuses on creating culturally relevant educational technologies that enhance learning engagement and effectiveness through human-centered AI, social interaction, and teacher professional development tools.

- World Economic Forum Young Scientist
- Recipient of McCandless Chair and Thomas and Lydia Moran Professorship
Her work addresses global edtech deployment across diverse contexts (Cote d'Ivoire, Tanzania, Mexico, Costa Rica, Brazil, Philippines, Belgium) and explores rapport-building with AI agents to improve pedagogical relationships. Supported by NSF, Google, McDonnell Foundation, and Jacobs Foundation grants, she leads initiatives like ClassInSight and ETAC (Educational Technology Across Cultures).
Current projects include:
- Optimizing classroom sensing for teacher development
- Designing intercultural communication learning environments
- Reducing barriers in MOOCs through human-centered design
