Dr. Amy O Burk is a Professor of Equine Science and Director of the Undergraduate Program at the University of Maryland's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Department of Animal and Avian Sciences. She coordinates the Equine Studies Program and oversees academic leadership for over 300 undergraduate majors.
- M.S. and Ph.D. in Equine Nutrition from Virginia Tech
Her research focuses on equine nutrition, environmental stewardship, and pasture management. She has developed farm management practices to improve horse welfare and environmental protection, including a rotational grazing demonstration site that educated 2,000+ stakeholders.
Recent publications (2025-2017) highlight expertise in grazing systems, horse behavior, and metabolic health. Key themes include equine obesity, forage utilization, and environmental best practices.
