Amy N. Mendenhall is the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs and Professor in the School of Social Welfare at the University of Kansas. She holds a PhD and MSW from The Ohio State University and a BA in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Virginia. Her research focuses on child and family well-being, community-based services, and culturally responsive interventions, particularly in Indigenous communities. She has led over 30 funded projects totaling $9 million, including the Strengths Model for Youth and evaluations of Attachment Biobehavioral Catch-up. Dr. Mendenhall founded the Center for Community Engagement & Collaboration, which partners with communities to improve practice and policy through training and evaluation.
Her work emphasizes strengths-based approaches, community engagement, and policy impact. She has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed articles and serves as Editor of the Journal of Community Practice. Her academic roles include former Associate Dean for Research & Faculty Development and Director of the CCEC. She remains active in advancing community-driven solutions to social challenges.
