Amy Lorino serves as Clinical Associate Professor and Associate Director of Occupational Therapy within the Division of Occupational Therapy at Binghamton University's Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She joined the faculty in September 2022, teaching in both entry-level and post-professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy programs.
Her educational background includes:
- OTD from Jefferson University, Philadelphia
- MS in Occupational Therapy from Columbia University, New York
- BS in Education from State University of New York at Oneonta
Dr. Lorino's research centers on health management occupations, chronic conditions intervention, and health literacy. Clinically, she specializes in community/home health practice for adults with physical and psychosocial challenges, with notable expertise in dementia caregiver support through her Skills2Care™ certification. Her approach emphasizes evidence-based collaborative problem-solving to empower clients in self-advocacy and functional cognition.
With extensive cross-continuum experience spanning early intervention, psychiatric care, and rehabilitation settings, she previously served as Director of Rehabilitation at a rural hospital system where she developed community-focused programs including an outpatient OT clinic. Her teaching integrates occupational therapy theory, mental health practice, and interprofessional health promotion principles.
