Amy Liu is a Professor in the Department of Physics at Georgetown University, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Physics from UC Berkeley (1991) and an A.B. in Physics from Cornell University (1985). Her research focuses on computational studies of materials' electronic, structural, and vibrational properties, including superconductivity, charge density waves, and boron cluster stability. She also investigates physics education reforms in undergraduate settings.
Research interests span ab initio calculations of electron-phonon coupling in layered superconductors (e.g., MgB2), boron fullerene stability, and competing electronic instabilities in charge density wave materials. Her educational work evaluates pedagogical reforms for physics majors at Georgetown.
No scientific awards are listed, and no advising/grants information is provided. Her computational research group explores material properties using quantum-mechanical approaches.
