Amy Gonzales is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and serves as Associate Director of the Chicano Studies Institute. Her research focuses on the psychological and tangible consequences of internet-based interactions, with a particular emphasis on marginalized communities such as racial/ethnic minorities, low-income populations, and LGBTQ+ individuals. She examines digital divide issues, including device access disparities and the impact of communication technologies on identity and well-being.
Dr. Gonzales holds a Ph.D. in Communication Science from Cornell University (2010). Her work bridges theory and practice, aiming to develop solutions that address long-term negative effects of digital infrastructures.
