Amy Eguchi is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Education Studies at the University of California San Diego. She holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Cambridge, an Ed.M. from Harvard University, and an M.A. in Child Development from Pacific Oaks College. Her work focuses on leveraging educational robotics, AI, and digital fabrication tools to enhance STEM+C learning for K-12 students, particularly underrepresented groups.
Dr. Eguchi has been a leader in RoboCupJunior since 2000, serving as co-chair, vice president of the RoboCup Federation, and board member. She currently chairs the World Robot Summit’s Junior Category, fostering global student engagement with social robotics. She also contributes to the AI for K-12 initiative, shaping standards for artificial intelligence education in schools.
Her research emphasizes transdisciplinary approaches to technology integration, including robotics competitions’ impact on 21st-century skills and culturally responsive AI education strategies. Recent work explores embodied learning in virtual reality environments and the pedagogical frameworks needed to maximize robotics’ educational potential.
