Amy Borello Gruss is an Associate Professor of Environmental Engineering at the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of Kennesaw State University (KSU), where she has served since 2016. Prior to her academic role, she worked in civil and environmental engineering consulting, specializing in water and wastewater treatment design. She holds a Ph.D. and B.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida, supported by a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
Her research focuses on chemical mechanisms of contaminants in water systems, including novel disinfection methods (e.g., peracetic acid), microplastic removal, mercury remediation via photochemical processes, and sustainable wastewater treatment strategies. She has published extensively on topics such as fluid dynamics optimization in water storage tanks, pedagogical approaches to STEM education, and interdisciplinary sustainability initiatives.
